Turning Waste Heat Into a Sustainable Water Source

Contact

AirJoule advances the Water category by generating PFAS-free water from atmospheric moisture, reducing or replacing potable water demand for cooling and operations. Its ability to produce water on-site helps data centers lower WUE and improve resilience in water-stressed regions.

“Water utilization is a local issue that needs to be addressed at the point of use:
You cannot be water neutral—let alone water positive—without producing water on site, and AirJoule enables sustainable sourcing of water by reusing waste heat to access atmospheric moisture.”

Who They Are
AirJoule is a technology company pioneering atmospheric water generation powered by waste heat. Their patented system captures moisture from the air and converts it into high-purity, PFAS-free water—even in arid climates—while reducing the cooling burden on data center infrastructure.

What They Do
The AirJoule A1000 system intercepts waste heat from cooling loops or on-site power generation, using that energy to extract water from ambient air.
The process simultaneously lowers cooling load, improves PUE, and produces water that can replace or offset groundwater withdrawals in evaporative cooling or operational uses.

Sustainability Impact
AirJoule reduces both energy and water intensity, helping data centers achieve significant drops in PUE while in some cases enabling net-positive water production. By sourcing water on-site, facilities avoid strain on local water systems and advance long-term resilience in water-stressed regions.
